misevaluation
Faulty worth determination
Misevaluation is a faulty or incorrect assessment of something's worth, quality, or significance.
The term appears most often in financial and academic contexts: The market crash revealed widespread misevaluation of mortgage-backed securities.
A misevaluation can run in either direction—overvaluing or undervaluing the thing in question.
