outdoor installation
Art outside buildings
An outdoor installation is a work of art designed to exist in an exterior space—a park, plaza, urban street, or natural landscape.
Unlike gallery pieces, outdoor installations engage with weather, light, and public interaction as integral elements.
They range from monumental sculptures to ephemeral arrangements: The artist's outdoor installation transformed the abandoned lot into a contemplative garden.
The term distinguishes site-specific exterior works from indoor gallery installations.
