memory-holed
Purged from record
Memory-holed means erased from public record or collective awareness, as if it never existed.
The term comes from George Orwell's *1984*, where inconvenient documents were dropped into a "memory hole" for destruction.
Now used broadly for information suppressed or forgotten: The scandal was quietly memory-holed by the press.
Often implies deliberate erasure rather than natural forgetting.
