memorial stone
Monument for deceased
A memorial stone is a marker placed to commemorate a person, event, or place—typically a flat or upright slab of stone bearing an inscription.
Unlike a gravestone, a memorial stone doesn't necessarily mark a burial site; it may honor someone whose remains lie elsewhere or commemorate an event: They laid a memorial stone where the soldiers fell.
The term overlaps with monument and memorial marker.
