meat sweats
Carnivore's digestive flush
Meat sweats is slang for the sensation of feeling overheated, flushed, or sweaty after eating a large quantity of meat, especially protein-rich red meat.
The phenomenon is attributed to the thermogenic effect of digesting protein, which requires more energy than other macronutrients and generates body heat.
I demolished that entire rack of ribs and now I've got the meat sweats.
The term is most common in casual conversation about overeating at barbecues or steakhouses.
