A meat mallet is a kitchen tool used to pound and tenderize meat, typically having a heavy head with a textured striking surface.
One side is often flat for pounding cutlets thin, the other ridged or spiked for breaking down tough fibers: She used a meat mallet to flatten the chicken breasts for schnitzel.
