matchbooks
Tiny strike-anywhere folders
Matchbooks are small cardboard folders containing paper matches, with a striking surface on the outside.
The matches tear away from stapled rows inside.
Once ubiquitous as promotional items from restaurants, hotels, and bars, matchbooks have become less common as smoking has declined.
Collectors prize vintage matchbooks for their graphic designs and historical interest.
