lying low
Keeping out of sight
Lying low means staying out of sight or avoiding attention, often to escape notice or let trouble pass.
Someone might lie low after a controversy, keeping quiet until things blow over: The senator has been lying low since the scandal broke.
It can also mean simply staying inactive or resting: I'm just lying low this weekend.
