logline

Pitch in sentences

A logline is a one- or two-sentence summary of a film, television show, or other narrative work, designed to capture its essential premise and hook: Her logline pitched the movie as Jaws meets Die Hard.

Loglines distill a story to its core conflict and protagonist, used to sell projects to producers or attract audiences.

The term comes from the practice of logging scripts with brief descriptions.
