lilliputians

Miniature fictional inhabitants

Lilliputians are tiny people, from the six-inch-tall inhabitants of Lilliput in Jonathan Swift's *Gulliver's Travels*.

The term describes anyone or anything diminutive in size: lilliputian creatures, lilliputian portions.

Extended to mean petty or small-minded: lilliputian concerns, lilliputian bureaucrats obsessed with trivial rules. (Lowercase lilliputian is the adjective.)
