light leaks
Unwanted exposure seepage
Light leaks are unwanted exposures caused by light entering a camera body through gaps or cracks, typically appearing as bright streaks, flares, or washed-out areas on film.
Once considered a flaw in damaged equipment, the effect has become deliberately sought after for its dreamy, vintage aesthetic: I added light leaks in post to give the photos a nostalgic feel.
Digital filters now simulate what was once accidental.
