aerial footage
Film from above
Aerial footage is film or video captured from above, typically from aircraft, drones, or helicopters.
The term emphasizes the elevated vantage point rather than the recording medium: The documentary opened with stunning aerial footage of the coastline.
Once requiring expensive helicopter rentals, aerial footage became accessible to amateur filmmakers with the rise of consumer drones.
