larkspurs

Tall garden spires

Larkspurs are flowering plants with tall spikes of spurred blossoms, typically blue or purple but also white, pink, or lavender.

The name comes from the spur-shaped projection on each flower, resembling a lark's claw.

Native to the Northern Hemisphere, larkspurs are popular in gardens but toxic to livestock.

Closely related to delphiniums.
