land of the free
Where freedom reigns
Land of the free is an epithet for the United States, from the national anthem: "the land of the free and the home of the brave." The phrase is used patriotically but also ironically to critique American policies seen as contradicting ideals of liberty: Some land of the free—we have the highest incarceration rate in the world.
