lady in waiting
Queen's female companion
A lady in waiting is a woman who attends a queen, princess, or other noblewoman as a personal companion and assistant.
The position is one of honor rather than servitude—ladies in waiting traditionally come from aristocratic families themselves.
The duchess was accompanied by her ladies in waiting.
