kojic acid
Melanin production inhibitor
Kojic acid is a compound derived from fungi, used in skincare products to lighten skin by inhibiting melanin production.
It appears in creams and serums marketed for treating dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone: The dermatologist recommended a kojic acid serum for my melasma.
Also used as a food preservative to prevent browning.
