ergotamine

Headache vasoconstrictor drug

Ergotamine is a compound derived from ergot, a fungus that infects grain.

It constricts blood vessels and is used medically to treat migraine headaches, particularly those that don't respond to other medications.

The drug can cause serious side effects including reduced blood flow to extremities, and its use has largely been supplanted by newer migraine treatments.
