knee-breeches

Pants ending mid-leg

Knee-breeches are trousers that extend only to the knee, where they fasten with a buckle or button.

They were standard men's attire in Europe and America through the 18th century, now worn mainly in historical costume, formal court dress, or traditional uniforms: The footmen wore powdered wigs and knee-breeches.
