kleptomaniac

Compulsive stealing disorder

A kleptomaniac is a person with an uncontrollable urge to steal, typically items of little value or personal use.

The compulsion stems from psychological impulse rather than need or greed: She's not a thief—she's a kleptomaniac who can't help herself.

The term can be used loosely for anyone with sticky fingers.
