kick plates
Bottom door protectors
Kick plates are metal or plastic panels mounted at the bottom of doors to protect against scuffs and damage from shoes, feet, and wheeled objects.
They're standard on commercial doors and service entrances where traffic is heavy: The stainless steel kick plate was dented from years of deliveries.
The term also applies to protective strips on stair risers.
