keypunched
Entered via holes
Keypunched means data was entered by punching holes in cards using a keypunch machine.
Before computer screens and keyboards, operators typed on machines that translated keystrokes into patterns of holes on stiff paper cards, which computers then read.
She keypunched payroll data for eight hours a day.
The technology is obsolete, surviving mainly in references to mid-twentieth-century computing.
