MiG
Cold War aircraft
MiG designates Soviet and Russian military aircraft produced by the Mikoyan-Gurevich design bureau, named for its founders.
The MiG-15 challenged American jets in Korea; the MiG-21 became the most-produced supersonic aircraft in history.
In Cold War contexts, MiG often served as shorthand for any Soviet fighter: Two MiGs appeared on radar. (Lowercase mig refers to a welding process.)
