inhibin

FSH feedback regulator

Inhibin is a hormone produced by the reproductive organs—ovaries in women, testes in men—that suppresses the release of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the pituitary gland.

It functions as part of a feedback loop regulating reproduction: when inhibin levels rise, FSH production decreases.

Blood tests measuring inhibin help assess ovarian reserve and detect certain tumors.
