constructivism
Knowledge through experience
Constructivism is a theory holding that knowledge or meaning is actively constructed rather than passively received.
In education, it emphasizes learning through experience and reflection rather than rote instruction: The teacher's constructivist approach let students discover principles through hands-on experiments.
In international relations, constructivism argues that state behavior is shaped by socially constructed norms and identities rather than fixed material interests. (Capitalized Constructivism is the art movement.)
