hypersexualization
Overemphasis on sexuality
Hypersexualization is the process of making something excessively sexual, or the state of being portrayed that way.
The term usually criticizes media, advertising, or culture for emphasizing sexuality inappropriately—especially regarding children or teenagers: the hypersexualization of young girls in beauty pageants.
It can also describe how women, minorities, or subcultures are reduced to sexual stereotypes: Critics pointed to the hypersexualization of Black women in music videos.
