human statues
Motionless street performers
Human statues are street performers who pose motionless in costume, often painted metallic or pale, mimicking sculptures in public spaces.
They typically remain frozen until someone drops money in a container, prompting a small gesture or pose change.
The practice requires remarkable stillness and patience: We watched a human statue hold the same pose for twenty minutes.
