historic markers
Sites of significance
Historic markers are signs or plaques placed at locations of historical significance, identifying events, people, or structures worthy of commemoration.
They typically appear along roadsides or at building sites, installed by government agencies or historical societies: We pulled over to read the historic marker about the Civil War battle.
