hip checks
Sideways hockey hits
A hip check is a body contact move in hockey and other sports where a player uses their hip to knock an opponent off balance or away from the puck.
The checker drops low and pivots to strike with the hip rather than the shoulder: He hip checked him into the boards.
Outside sports, hip check describes any sideways bump: She hip checked me out of the way at the bar.
