handicap access
Disability entry provisions
Handicap access refers to features that allow people with disabilities to enter and use buildings, vehicles, or facilities—ramps, wide doorways, elevators, accessible restrooms.
The term appears on signs and in regulations, though *accessible* or *disability access* is now preferred in formal contexts: The building has handicap access in the rear.
The adjective *handicapped* has fallen out of favor as a general descriptor of people with disabilities.
