half-gods
Partly divine beings
Half-gods are beings of mixed divine and mortal parentage—figures like Hercules or Achilles, born of a god and a human.
The term also applies to minor deities or those whose divinity is incomplete or qualified.
Emerson's line When the half-gods go, the gods arrive suggests that lesser things must clear the way for what is truly worthy.
