guidance counselors
Student support staff
Guidance counselors are school staff members who advise students on academic planning, college applications, and personal problems.
They help students choose courses, navigate social difficulties, and plan for life after graduation.
The role varies by school level—elementary counselors focus more on emotional support, while high school counselors emphasize college and career preparation: I met with my guidance counselor to discuss my transcript.
