peer mentoring
Equal-status teaching relationship
Peer mentoring is guidance and support provided by someone of similar status, age, or experience level rather than a traditional authority figure.
A new employee might receive peer mentoring from a colleague hired six months earlier, or a recovering addict from someone further along in sobriety.
The relationship tends to feel less hierarchical than conventional mentoring: The program pairs incoming freshmen with sophomore peer mentors.
