green-wood

Fresh, living timber

Green-wood is freshly cut wood that hasn't dried or seasoned, still containing its natural moisture.

It's heavier and harder to burn than seasoned wood, but easier to carve and bend.

The term also appears in old ballads and poetry for a forest in leaf: They met beneath the green-wood tree.
