granulosa cells
Egg-surrounding ovarian cells
Granulosa cells are cells that surround and nourish developing eggs in the ovary.
They form layers around the oocyte within follicles, producing estrogen and other hormones essential for egg maturation and ovulation.
After an egg is released, granulosa cells transform into part of the corpus luteum, which secretes progesterone to support early pregnancy.
