graftings
Branch-to-rootstock attachments
Graftings are instances of grafting—the process of joining plant tissues so they grow as one, or the surgical transplanting of tissue.
In horticulture, graftings attach a cutting from one plant onto the rootstock of another: The apple tree graftings took well this spring.
The term also covers corrupt practices where officials divert public funds for personal gain.
