bypass grafting
Vascular detour procedure
Bypass grafting is a surgical procedure that reroutes blood flow around a blocked or narrowed vessel, most commonly in the heart.
A surgeon harvests a healthy blood vessel from elsewhere in the body—typically the leg or chest—and attaches it above and below the obstruction, creating an alternate pathway.
He underwent coronary bypass grafting after his heart attack.
