Goose bumps are the small raised bumps that appear on skin when a person is cold, frightened, or emotionally moved.
The tiny muscles around hair follicles contract, causing the skin to pucker.
The name comes from the resemblance to plucked goose skin.
Also called goose pimples or gooseflesh: The eerie music gave me goose bumps.
