goo

Viscous messy substance

Goo is any thick, soft, sticky substance—the kind that clings to fingers and stretches when pulled: There's some kind of goo on the bottom of my shoe.

The word often carries mild disgust, describing mystery substances or excessive amounts of something viscous.

Gooey is the adjective: gooey caramel, gooey sentimentality.
