gook
Gook is a deeply offensive slur for people of East or Southeast Asian descent, particularly associated with American military conflicts in Asia.
It emerged during U.S. wars in the Philippines, Korea, and Vietnam, where soldiers used it to dehumanize enemy combatants and local civilians alike: The lieutenant referred to Vietnamese villagers as gooks.
The term remains taboo.
