goldleaf
Thin metallic sheets
Gold leaf is gold that has been hammered into extremely thin sheets, used for gilding frames, domes, lettering, and decorative objects.
The sheets are so delicate they can be torn by breath.
The restorer applied gold leaf to the damaged frame.
Also written as two words: gold leaf.
