Cold engine heaters
Glow plugs are heating elements in diesel engines that warm the combustion chamber to help the engine start in cold conditions.
Unlike spark plugs in gasoline engines, they don't ignite fuel directly—they preheat the air so diesel fuel will combust when compressed.
The dashboard indicator light shaped like a coil signals when glow plugs are warming: Wait for the glow plug light to go out before starting.
