IFR
Gauges guide you
IFR stands for instrument flight rules, the regulations governing aircraft navigation by reference to cockpit instruments rather than visual landmarks.
Pilots fly IFR in poor visibility, at night, or in clouds: We filed an IFR flight plan because of the weather.
Contrast with VFR (visual flight rules), which requires clear conditions.
