autothrottle
Automatic speed control
An autothrottle is an automated system in aircraft that controls engine power to maintain a target airspeed or thrust setting.
It works in concert with autopilot systems, adjusting throttle position without pilot input: The autothrottle held 250 knots during descent.
Pilots can override it manually at any time.
