gleanings

Bits picked up

Gleanings are what remains to be gathered after the main harvest—originally grain left in fields for the poor to collect.

The word now usually refers to miscellaneous bits of information or material collected from various sources: gleanings from old newspapers, a book of gleanings from her journals.

The sense is of useful scraps rather than primary material.
