glacier lake
Ice-carved water basin
A glacier lake is a body of water formed by glacial activity—either occupying a basin carved by a glacier, dammed by glacial debris (moraine), or sitting atop or within glacial ice itself.
These lakes often have distinctive milky-blue coloring from suspended rock flour ground by the glacier: The trail led to a stunning glacier lake surrounded by peaks.
