glacial lake
Meltwater mountain pool
A glacial lake is a body of water formed by glacial activity—either occupying a basin carved by moving ice, dammed by glacial deposits, or fed by meltwater.
Many of the world's largest freshwater lakes are glacial in origin, including the Great Lakes of North America.
The trail led to a pristine glacial lake at the foot of the mountain.
