ghost image
Faint duplicate picture
A ghost image is a faint duplicate or secondary image appearing where it shouldn't.
On screens, it's a residual impression left by static content displayed too long.
In photography, it's an unwanted double exposure or reflection.
In vision, ghost images appear as shadowy duplicates caused by optical problems: After the surgery, she complained of ghost images.
