light leak
Unwanted camera exposure
A light leak is unwanted light entering a camera or other optical device through gaps, cracks, or deteriorated seals.
In film photography, light leaks expose portions of the film, creating streaks, fogging, or washed-out areas: The orange streak across the photo was from a light leak in my old Pentax.
Once considered a flaw, light leak effects are now sometimes added intentionally for a vintage aesthetic.
