gangmaster

Labor gang supervisor

A gangmaster is a person who recruits, organizes, and supervises groups of laborers—typically for agricultural work, food processing, or other manual jobs.

The term is chiefly British and often carries negative connotations, associated with exploitation of migrant workers through poor wages, unsafe conditions, or debt bondage: The gangmaster took a cut of every worker's pay.
