Glossy black flycatcher

A drongo is a glossy black tropical bird with a forked tail, found in Africa, Asia, and Australia.

In Australian and New Zealand slang, drongo means a stupid or incompetent person: Don't be such a drongo.

The insult supposedly derives from a notoriously unsuccessful Australian racehorse of the 1920s named after the bird.
